What guests expect from a short-stay home in Accra, from reliable power and water to the small details that earn good reviews.
Short stays can earn more than a long-term let, but only if guests get what the listing promises. These are the areas we look at first in a readiness assessment.
Power and water
Guests notice outages more than anything else. A standby generator or solar backup, and enough water storage with a reliable pump, make the biggest difference to reviews in Accra.
Comfort
- Air conditioning in every bedroom and good blackout curtains
- Quality mattresses and at least two sets of linen per bed
- Fast, reliable Wi-Fi, with the password displayed
- A Smart TV and a clear guide to using it
Kitchen and laundry
Guests staying more than a night or two want to cook. Stock pots, pans, utensils, plates and glasses for the maximum number of guests, plus a kettle, microwave and fridge. A washing machine is a strong selling point for longer stays.
Safety
Fit a fire extinguisher and smoke alarm, keep a first-aid kit, secure doors and windows, and give guests a list of emergency contacts.
Photos and the listing
Professional photos in daylight, an honest description and accurate house rules set the right expectations. Pricing should follow demand: weekends, holidays and events in Accra all change what guests will pay.
